GSA Revises Some Domestic Per Diem Rates

The General Services Administration (GSA) has revised the per diem rates for certain locations in California, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia, effective April 1, 2011. The per diem rate allowance is an alternative to reimbursing employees for their actual substantiated expenses for away-from-home lodging, and meals and incidental expenses (M&IE) [GSA Per Diem Bulletin 11-06, 3/15/11].

California. Per diem rates are increasing in San Francisco (San Francisco County), and Barstow/Ontario/Victorville (San Bernadino County). The San Francisco per diem rate increases from $213 to $221 on April 1, and then to $251 during the month of September. The Barstow/Ontario/Victorville per diem rate increases from $139 to $155 on April 1. The above increases are entirely due to an increase in the lodging rate. The M&IE rate is the same throughout the year.

Mississippi. The Oxford (Lafayette County) per diem rate increases from $123 to $147 on April 1. Both the lodging rate and the M&IE rate are increasing. The lodging rate increases from $77 to $96 on April 1. The M&IE rate increases from $46 to $51 on April 1.

New York. The per diem rate for Manhattan (includes the boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island) increases from $263 to $283 during April and May, to $295 during June through August, and finally to $366 during the month of September. The above increases are entirely due to an increase in the lodging rate. The M&IE rate is $71 throughout the year.

Pennsylvania. The per diem rate for Harrisburg/Hershey (Dauphin County) increases from $157 to $158 during April and May, and then to $185 during June through August. The per diem rate reverts back to $158 during the month of September. The above changes are entirely due to revisions in the lodging rate. The M&IE rate is $51 throughout the year.

Texas. The Greenville (Hunt County) per diem rate increases from $129 to $137 on April 1. The increase is entirely due to an increase in the lodging rate from $78 to $86.

Virginia. The Bowling Green (Caroline County) per diem rate increases from $123 to $145 on April 1. Both the lodging rate and the M&IE rate are increasing. The lodging rate increases from $77 to $89 on April 1. The M&IE rate increases from $46 to $56 on April 1.

New per diem rates will go into effect for all localities on Oct. 1, 2011.
